The Explorer tool should prompt you to install any software plug-ins and Xtras required. If these programs do not install, or you have other problems in operating the tool, please see the topics below:

Plug-ins don't install automatically
The Explorer tool requires Shockwave and QuickTime plug-ins to be installed on your computer. If these plug-ins do not install automatically, please go to Installing plug-ins to install them yourself. If you are operating on a network, you may need to ask your system administrator for assistance.
If your computer is an Intel-based Mac, please see the topic for this below.
Alert boxes for Xtras and file sources
You may be prompted with the following alert boxes:
These Xtras are industry-validated components, specially written for SoundJunction.
Select the 'Install' button. If you are on a network, you may need to ask your system administrator for assistance.
This is a standard shockwave security measure, as the Explorer tool uses two different web servers.
Select the 'Allow Future Access from This Location by Any Movie' option and click 'Allow'. If you are operating on a network, you may need to ask your system administrator for assistance.
Message window says 'Buffering stream' but audio/video doesn't play
The Explorer has to buffer a certain amount before it can start playing. This should only take a few seconds, depending on your internet connection speed.
If audio/video consistently fails to start after a longer time (30 seconds or more) you may need to upgrade your QuickTime player. Please go to Installing plug-ins for instructions on how to install the latest version.
If the problem persists, some institutions' internet service providers (for example, NTL working for certain UK school networks) block access to the standard QuickTime streaming port (554). You may need to contact your system administrator for assistance. We are working on a solution to this problem.

Even if the audio and video in the Explorer tool will not play, you can still use the Composer tool to create your own music, using the samples in the Clipboard libary. To access the library, click the 'Composer' tab, 'Show clipboard' then 'Library'.
Go to How to create music in SoundJunction for more information.
