Are there any supporting teaching materials to SoundJunction?
In the near future printable documents will become available. These will consist of example lesson plans, ideas on how to create learning trails and case studies.
I have had a look around the site and would like to use SoundJunction in my lessons. What is the best way to do this?
If you visit the Learning Trail Forum (click on the tab on the left hand side) you will discover pre-written routes through the site. When a user is using a learning trail, they are only able to access a succession of predetermined pages. There are numerous Learning Trails that can be used in the classroom. You can filter the type of Leaning Trail you would like by sorting by Theme.
What is a learning trail?
A learning trail is a pre-determined path through the site. When you use a Learning Trail, SoundJunction will display only the navigation needed for that particular trail, providing a clear pathway for learners to travel along. If you click on the learning trail forum in the left hand column you will discover a whole range of learning trails, from journeys about individual musicians’ lives to journeys exploring the use of the seed rhythm in the three commissions.
I want to create a learning trail, how do I do this?
Anyone can create a learning trail. First of all you need to log in. Once logged in browse the pages you would like to feature in your trail. You can keep track of the pages you visit by clicking on the Journey Mode icon. Whilst in the Journey Mode section you can edit trails (delete pages and add notes) or ask the site to suggest pages on where you should go next.
Once you are happy with you trail you can save it. You are able to save up to 10 journeys.
Is it possible to share my learning trails with other teachers?
If you are a teacher and would like to share your journey with others you can request for Advanced User status. As an advanced user you will be able to save and share your journey.
I have been looking through the learning trail forum and can’t find a trail suitable for the age groups I teach.
The age groups in the Learning Trails are merely guidelines and could well be suitable for your group. If you can’t find a suitable trail you can create your own trails. You will need to register to do this. If you want to then publish your learning trail to the forum you can request Advanced User status.
I understand there is a CD-Rom version of SoundJunction, how do I get hold of a copy?
