His Promise Land remix combines the delicate African sounds of Moving Away, by Tunde Jegede, the vibrant jazz in Where will it take you? by Jason Yarde, and the diverse orchestral textures in David Horne’s Emerging Dances, and blends them into a totally new music.

Here are some of the original sounds you can hear in Promise Land.

Eska's vocals

The vocal line from Where will it take you?, sung by Eska Mtungwasi, and saxophone solos from the same song.

Emerging Dances

Syncopated brass and woodwind from Emerging Dances.

Backing loop

Rollins uses this as the basis of a backing loop, adding drums.

Kora

The delicate sound of the kora – a traditional West African stringed instrument, used in Moving Away.

Kasse Mady Diabate

And the distinctive sound of Malian singer Kasse Mady Diabate, also featured in Moving Away.
