Enrich instrumental teaching

Whether you’re teaching piano, violin, voice or triangle, SoundJunction is full of materials you could use to support and enrich your lessons.

Over 40 professional musicians talk on video about their instruments and experiences. So if you’re teaching the flute, for example, you can introduce pupils to the professional experiences of Britten Sinfonia’s flautist Anna Pyne – what’s it like to play in an orchestra?

Or you can show them how other instruments in the woodwind family work, drawing on video demonstrations of the bassoon, clarinet and saxophone, and listening to core repertoire.

Using the online Composer tool, your pupils can compose their own music, experimenting with sounds and samples of the flute and mixing them with other instruments.

Click to find information on instruments and voices, or about musicians. Alternatively, you can look for trails of pages on particular 'instrument' themes in the Learning trail forum.
