Playing with Britten Sinfonia

Gareth Twigg with his bassoon in an ensemble

Gareth is one of the youngest players with Britten Sinfonia

GARETH AUDITIONED successfully for Britten Sinfonia. Although not a principal player, he is one of the regular extras called on to play when more than one bassoonist is needed, or when the principal bassoonist is away.

Gareth, like the rest of the players, enjoys the variety of work Britten Sinfonia brings. At the heart of the wind section is the Haffner quintet, which plays concerts of wind music independently of the orchestra.

As a young player, the experiences gained from being associated with an organisation such as Britten Sinfonia are invaluable.

The range of music Gareth is called on to play, and the need to blend into a group that has to cooperate so quickly for so many different kinds of events, will put him in a good position should he decide to apply for a principal post with another orchestra.
