The Structure of Moving Away

Building site

There's much more to a piece of music's structure than simply the beginning, middle and end ...

SOMETIMES PEOPLE TALK about structure in very simple terms, like ‘beginning, middle, end’. As music exists in time, unless it goes on for ever it will have to have a beginning, a middle, and an end, but in reality, structure is more complicated, interesting and powerful than that. You can think of structure as the way absolutely everything in a piece of music or sound fits together – melodies, rhythms, patterns, harmonies, textures etc.

In this clip, Tunde Jegede describes the structure of Moving Away.
