Turning a note into a chord

Here are three examples from different genres of music of where a note grows into a chord...

And in the Note Canvas tool below, you can do the same thing yourself: turning one note into a chord. Click play in the tool, to hear just one note.

This note is a C. Use the drop down menus in the Suggest a chord tool to suggest the chord 'C maj' (C major).

You should now notice some small orange arrows, pointing to various notes up the left hand side of the Note Canvas tool. These are pointing to the notes of the C major chord.

If you click Change tool bank, you can select the Draw note tool. Try drawing in the two notes, that the arrows are pointing to, directly above the original C note (the new notes are E and G).

Click Play to hear your chord.

And if you use the Multi-select tool to select all three notes...

...click Change tool bank, and select the Current chord tool, you should see that your chord is a 'C major chord, root position'.

Try playing with other chords in the Suggest a chord tool, or making up your own chords and seeing if Current chord can tell you what they are.
